When springtime rolls around, we are busying ourselves with projects to organize and cleanse the inside of the home. But the outside is also very important to pay attention to. There are several things that you, as a property owner or manager can do or you can hire a professional to care for your curbside maintenance and its appeal. Start your own checklist wit some of our ideas below:
- Check the roof for loose shingles or damage from storms over the winter. If you are skilled in replacing shingles or roof repair, lucky you. Most of us will absolutely need the pros.
- Wash the exterior of the property and any small buildings or separate fixtures
- Power or soft wash the patio, deck, driveway, and outside of home to get the grime and any natural causing growth, off of your exterior. Depending on the what the material is that you are cleaning, you will want a gentler soft wash or a tougher and efficient power wash.
- Pickup any trash on the grounds, whether it’s your or not. In close proximity neighborhoods or commercial real estate, it’s easy for trash days to have a blow out of litter
- Rake any leaves or natural debris, mow the lawn, trim back the weeds, and help reveal the start of spring.
- Clean any outdoor furniture and get is ready for use. If your deck and patio are going to be sparkling, you probably want the common area to look just as sharp.
- Sweep any hardscapes or slabs of debris from when you are pruning up the bushes and other lawn and garden maintenance. It is one of the first things that is noticed when arriving at a property for the first time and it is your first impression.
- Unclog the gutters of the leaves, buildup from runoff, and debris left over from the changing seasons.
- Clean the windows with a glass cleaning spray of your preference and a microfiber cloth to clear the view. If you don’t have a tall enough ladder for hard-to-reach windows or perhaps a fear of heights – call in the professionals.
