Whenever you dust your office, you often feel that it is a pointless task that must be continuously done to be impactful. Dust accumulates from human skin, pet dander, incoming traffic, and other sources. It’s a nuisance, but it’s a part of everyday indoor life. If you are part of an office environment, dusting is vital to a cleanly appearance and conveys a productive and cared for establishment. When there is an abundance of dust it looks neglected and it does not promote a vibrant place to work or visit.
Dusting Basics
- Start from the top and dust your way down; if you go the other way, you will end up dusting the low-lying areas twice.
- Move all objects on desks, countertops, and tables to dust below and around them. Replace the items to their original position as you go.
- For delicate, screens, or electronics, use a microfiber cloth – only use water to rinse once it has been soiled.
- Dust your blinds – first across the top, then close blinds to wipe the entire surface, close blinds to the other side for a dusting finish.
- Wipe the walls and surfaces to remove any smudges or spots with a damp microfiber cloth.
- At last vacuum to remove dust from any upholstery and hard to reach places.
Dust and Keep Your Office Healthy
If the office space is not cared for, you will likely see an increased transmission of viruses, the flu, and the most annoying cough and postnasal drip complaints. Airborne dust can attribute to increased allergy or asthmatic symptoms such as itchy eyes and throat, coughing, sneezing, and runny noses. If your staff is feeling awful because of a filthy office, they may lose hours or days due to sickness, or lack productivity because of the distracting side effects. Keep your business thriving and efficient by giving your employees a healthy and maintained workspace.
